March Programming at ETown: The Month of The Open
Hello ETown family!! This is a short blog about what kind of things you should be expecting come this March regarding our programming and events.
First and foremost, it is the month of the CrossFit Open. It is the best time of the year to push yourself and discover what you are truly capable of. It is a time for the community to come together and tackle great challenges as a team. With the support of all our great athletes, we see amazing things happen during the Open. That being said, your score for the Open WOD is not worth any risk to your health. If a workout has muscle ups in it, and you dislocate your shoulder to get one rep, you are now unable to finish the Open; and, you are going to have a long road to recovery. At the end of the day, you should feel proud about your effort. Pick the variation of the WOD that will challenge you, and actually TEST YOUR FITNESS… instead of the one that will make you feel defeated. Use all of the skills you have accumulated over this past year, and see how far you can get through these crazy workouts! If one movement is going to put you at risk for injury, take the scaled route and crush it!!! And now, you know what skills and abilities you have to work towards to conquer next year’s Open.
Next up, we have our class programming. We are squatting, a lot! You’ve all tasted the 1 ¼ front squats, and we have overhead squats and box squats returning as well! We’ll be working on muscle up technique, and hammering the upper body with floor presses and push presses. You can expect plenty of our “ETown benchmarks” such as: “Complex A”, Up the Wall”, and “Chuck Taylors”.
Here’s to the this crazy month of Open fun, and we can’t wait to see all of the crazy PRs that are just around the corner. So, get some sleep, eat a hearty dinner, and get ready to crush this Open season!!!
